There is no double that HTC Vive is an impressive VR headset system that offers room-scale positional tracking features, and it has became the most popular platform for developers. But now, DPVR E3 could be another attractive option for you to build VR experience.
Ealier this year, Shanghai-based VR startup DPVR had launched their latest PC VR headset DPVR E3 Basic, and now they want to add more features on it. Today, at an official customer-communication event in Guangzhou, DPVR had announced that their room-scale positional tracking DPVR E3 system will be available in September.
Compare with HTC Vive, DPVR E3 has become a more affordable option, because DPVR E3 is 27% cheaper [HTC Vive is RMB 6888 in China] and 36% lighter than HTC Vive while both of them feature stable room-scale positional tracking experience with 1mm position precision. In fact, DPVR E3 has the capabilities of a very large 5m x 5m play area, larger than HTC Vive’s 4.5m x 4.5m.
I had ever tried two different iterations of DPVR E3 positional tracking system at DPVR’s headquarter, it really provides as impressive experience as HTC Vive.
Following is the Specification of DPVR E3.
